Start off 2012 enjoying the landscape of Arvada while taking more steps toward a healthier you! All hikes are rated easy, start at 9 am and will be approximately 4 miles. Councilmember McGoff will guide all hikes and answer your questions about Arvada!

Annual Dodgeball Tournament benefits the Ralston House

Ahmad Ghais has been an Apex Center guest for six years, and is one of the “charter members” of the first Pilates Reformer classes that started here in January 2008.
He took mat Pilates at the Apex Center when he and his wife moved to the Denver area from the east coast. They began as SilverSneakers participants, and later Ahmad switched to Reformer classes.
He now does four Pilates Reformer sessions each week at the Apex Center. “There’s no pounding, no stress

On Saturday, December 17, 2011 the new Apex Field House, 5724 Oak Street, hosted a popular annual holiday fund-raiser…the annual coed dodgeball tournament to benefit Ralston House. This year, participation increased more than 50% -- up to 17 teams from last year’s total of 11 teams.
According to event coordinator Stephanie Allen, participants donated more than $1900 in toys, gift cards and cash, above and beyond the proceeds from the tournament fees, all of which were donated to Ralston House. “The

Beginning November 21, Apex Park and Recreation District is collecting new unwrapped toys, knit gloves, scarves and socks for the Santa House. Located at 9518 W. 58th Ave., the Santa House is organized by the Arvada-Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth, an affiliation of all the Arvada and Wheat Ridge service clubs and Red Rocks Community College. On Saturday, December 10, several hundred visitors stopped by to see the new Apex Field House, a year-round turf sports facility with two fields for soccer, lacrosse, arena football and other sports. Operated by Apex Park and Recreation District, it is located at 5724 Oak Street, near the Harold D. Lutz Sports Complex in Arvada.

December 8 was a festive occasion for participants in APRD’s Therapeutic Recreation program. A talented group of people with disabilities performed this holiday musical for an audience of more than 135 at the Apex Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Boulevard.
These performers didn’t let their disabilities limit them on the stage. They all danced, sang and even performed solos…a challenging task that many would fear to attempt!
The evening was exhilarating and beautiful, and the performers’ eyes beamed with joy as the
December 5 was opening day of the Santa House, a resource for local parents in need who are unable to purchase Christmas gifts for their children. On the 5th and 6th, 220 adults came to the Santa House and chose gifts for 700 children from the donated items there.
As those numbers indicate, the Santa House is off to a busy start for the 2011 season. Now in its 7th year of operation, the biggest challenge to volunteers and donors looks

President Jim Whitfield called the November 3, 2011 meeting of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District to order at 6:32p.m. at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. Apex board members in attendance were: Jim Whitfield, Bob Loveridge, Ken Harrell and Jeff Glenn. Lee Humrich was absent. Apex participating staff members were Mike Miles, Executive Director, and Luann Levine, Recording Secretary.

On November 19, community members celebrated with staff, participants and officials from Apex Park and Recreation District and the City of Arvada at the Apex Simms Street Center ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.
The center is on the west side of Christ Community Covenant Church. Apex Park and Recreation District began an extensive renovation earlier in 2011, in collaboration with the City of Arvada, which annexed the property to enable Apex PRD to get city water and sewer services at
