Golf is a great family sport, and now you can take advantage of a family discount at the Indian Tree Golf Club Par 3 course! When an adult golfer brings a junior golfer (age 5-17), they both pay the junior green fee -- a savings of $5. Each adult that brings a junior receives the junior rate, so for example, if you and your spouse have two children between the ages of 5 and 17, and both of you bring
Golf is a great family sport…but aside from the miniature variety, golf might not come up at the top of your list for an affordable, multi-age activity. But at Indian Tree Golf Club, all ages can enjoy active fun outside.
As they have done for more than 30 years, hundreds of young golfers will be out on the course this summer, as the junior golf program kicks off its 2012 season.

Official results of the May 8 Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors election were announced on Wednesday, May 9. The top two vote-getters were Lee Humrich with 223 votes and Jeff Glenn with 207 votes. Carolyn J. Jacobs received 203 votes. Humrich and Glenn will be sworn in on Thursday, May 17 at the next regular board meeting, set for 6 pm at Indian Tree Golf Club, 7555 Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada.

The Apex PRD pottery program started in 1980, when Standard Oil closed its gas station at 58th Ave. and Garrison Street, then donated the building to the former North Jeffco Park and Recreation District. More than three decades have passed and the little structure on the corner no longer exists. However, the program is still going strong and it was recently transplanted to a new home at the Apex Simms Street Center, 11706 W. 82nd Ave.

Launching and expanding a fund-raising event is a little like raising a child. The task is challenging, the rewards are great, and things change every year.
The 2012 Father’s Day 5K and Fun Run, set for Sunday, June 17, is now a sturdy, energetic and thriving 5-year-old. Organizers are planning for about 500 runners, walkers and strollers—more than triple the original total of about 150 in the inaugural event, held in 2008.

President Jim Whitfield called the March 15, 2012 meeting of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. Apex board members in attendance were: Jim Whitfield, Lee Humrich, Jeff Glenn, and Ken Harrell. Bob Loveridge arrived at 6:34. Apex participating staff members were Mike Miles, Executive Director, and Luann Levine, Recording Secretary.

It was standing-room-only at a brand new event called “Downsizing: Trim Your Treasures” held last week at the Apex PRD Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd. The expo featured vendor booths with helpful information on how to tackle this task, plus a seminar called “Who gets Grandma’s Yellow Plate?” detailing how to decide what’s important, and to whom.
Nancy Wellnitz, adult/senior program supervisor, said the event was held in response to CRC customers’ stated interest in getting help with the job

Multi-ball drills-play longer points
Footwork-split steps are crucial

Drills consist of stroke fundamentals, court awareness, games, and situational play to sharpen your game.
This popular summer league tennis pairs an able-bodied player with a player using a wheelchair. The game is the same, but the "down" player may have 2 bounces if needed, with the second bounce outside the court boundaries, if necessary. "Up" players need to be strong 3.0's or higher.
