Summer's just beginning, but it's time to mark your calendar for Summer's End! Apex PRD is hosting the 2012 Summer's End Softball Tournament on August 18 at Harold D. Lutz Sports Complex.
This is a USSSA tournament with men's & coed rec divisions. The fee is $200 per team for registered Apex PRD teams, and $275 for non-Apex PRD teams. Teams are guaranteed two games and there will be first and second place individual awards.

Adult golf lessons start the week of June 4 at Indian Tree Golf Club, and registration is already in progress. Just like the facility itself, lessons at Indian Tree are top-quality, convenient, fun and affordable. Recreational Camps
Team 7-12 Day Camp – 11 weeks beginning June 4

In Colorado, the Junior Team Tennis concept emphasizes fun, fitness, and friends. Players ages 8-18 may form a team of their own, or contact the Arvada Tennis Center to be placed on a team. This program is a must for players thinking of, or playing high school tennis. Practices are on Wednesday and Friday, with matches played on Monday mornings.

CALL TO ORDER
President Jim Whitfield called the April 19, 2012 meeting of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. Apex board members in attendance were: Jim Whitfield, Lee Humrich, and Bob Loveridge. Jeff Glenn and Ken Harrell were absent. Apex participating staff members were Mike Miles, Executive Director, and Luann Levine, Recording Secretary.

Summer’s coming! Apex PRD’s two outdoor pools will soon be ready for the season. Secrest Pool and Lake Arbor will be open Saturday, May 26, Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28. They’ll close Tuesday, May 29 through Thursday, May 31, and from then on, open every day through August 25 (Secrest Pool) and August 18 (Lake Arbor).
Secrest Pool is located at 6820 W. 66th Ave. It’s 25 yards x 42 feet with a double pool slide and large water

The annual Bike Rodeo at Secrest Youth and Teen Center took place from 10 am to noon on Saturday, April 28 at 6820 W. 66th Ave. Young cyclists and their families showed up for this annual free event that highlights safe fun for bike riders. About 120 youth participants attended with the families, and at the event they received free helmets (properly fitted by volunteers), provided by Exempla Lutheran Medical Center.

April 29 was the date of the 9Health Fair at the Apex Center, and this year, it was the only site in Jefferson County on that day. Despite reports earlier in the week that attendance was down overall, the final count at the Apex Center fair came in at 1,007 participants and nearly 200 volunteers – the only site to have increased this year! As in recent years, the popular Senior Prom sold out in 2012, its fifth year. SilverSneakers® members enjoyed dinner, dancing, and entertainment at Indian Tree Golf Club, 7555 Wadsworth Boulevard, on Friday, April 20. This year’s theme was “Singing In The Rain,” but April showers didn’t dampen the fun on this spectacular evening of glitz and glamour.
The success of this year’s Prom is the direct result of many dedicated volunteers, the staff at Indian Tree, Apex Center employees, especially Phyllis

Mighty Mites soccer is a fun and energy filled environment designed to introduce young players to the exciting game of soccer. All sessions include age appropriate soccer activities that give youth players an opportunity to learn basic skills in a recreational setting. Come play soccer with us! This class is a great way for children to ENJOY the game of soccer while they learn.
