CALL TO ORDER
President Jeff Glenn called the June 21, 2012 meeting of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District to order at 6:32 p.m. at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. Apex board members in attendance were: Jeff Glenn, Jim Whitfield, Lee Humrich, Ken Harrell and Bob Loveridge. Apex participating staff members were Mike Miles, Executive Director, and Luann Levine, Recording Secretary.

Shutdown has come and gone and it’s almost September – the Apex Center’s birthday month and a time of promotions and special events around the center. The annual pass sale starts September 1, and as always, during the entire month there’s a special 10% discount on passes purchased and paid for in full. Job Summary: Responsible for planning, instructing, and demonstrating recreational dance and/or cheer classes for children ages 1.5-18 years old. Must demonstrate a strong interest in and a knowledge of children.
Qualifications: Minimum 16 years of age; current First Aid and CPR certifications. Prior experience with groups of children. Must be energetic, enthusiastic, and love interacting with kids. One year teaching experience preferred.

Even though we endured record-breaking heat this summer, at least it’s great for swimming! That fact was borne out over the past two weekends, when the Apex PRD Annual Dog Swim brought in big crowds of water-loving dogs and their owners. Everyone looks forward to this popular event as a way to bid a fond farewell to summer.
This year, 270 dogs swam at Lake Arbor Pool, 7451 W. 83rd Way., on August 19, while 290 dogs enjoyed fun in the
Apex Park and Recreation District, Milehigh Vineyard Church, Jeffco Public Schools and Hunger Free Colorado have all worked together to make the summer of 2012 more active and well-nourished for several dozen young Arvada residents.
This team effort began when Jeffco Public Schools received a grant from Hunger Free Colorado to Jeffco Schools, to retrofit school bus and enable it to bring hot lunches to children in two locations throughout the summer. During the school year, the children qualify for free
One of the many benefits of Pilates is enhanced flexibility. That’s part of what drew Kathy Van Buskirk to Pilates in 2001.
