Nearly a dozen of the Jeffco Aquatic Masters swimmers, whose home pool is Apex PRD’s George J. Meyers Pool, attended the recent Colorado Masters Swimming Association State Meet in April. They achieved some impressive results.
The men’s overall team ranking was 13th, the women’s overall team ranking was 14th , and the combined team ranking was 14th. A total of 387 swimmers and 49 teams participated in the meet. Individual Jeffco Aquatic Masters swimmers in attendance were Lesley Therrian, Katie Jenkins,

A.P.E. Women’s Self Defense Ages 12+
This class is a very physical introduction to Women’s Self Defense. When trying to avoid an attack or dealing with an attacker, awareness and reaction are most important. Class begins by discussing the importance of staying aware and being “smart” on the street and at home. Then, we introduce the basic strikes necessary to fend off an attacker and spend most of the class role playing attacks that women may face from a predator. The

The popular, growing sport of pickleball will soon have home courts in Arvada, thanks to “Pickleball Ken” Marquardt, hundreds of friends and supporters, and lots of hard work and enthusiasm.
Pickleball is played with a paddle and wiffle ball, over a net, and combines the rules of ping pong and badminton. In autumn 2011, Ken brought the game to the Apex Center, collaborating with Mike Miles, Apex PRD Executive Director, and the Apex Center staff to build participants and enthusiasm. At
This game for all ages combines elements of tennis, ping-pong and badminton. It’s played on a court, like tennis but half the size, with a Wiffle Ball and paddles.
