It would be nice to have the Drop In Class schedule in PDF format on the web, so that we could print out a copy.
Thanks!
Kristi
The “Print Friendly” button at the top of the post gives a nicely formatted page for printing. it removes the graphics, sidebar, header and just give the text. Let me know if that works for you.
Rob
I just tried that, and only the first page printed … ?
That’s great, but it doesn’t list which instructors are teaching each class–that’s sometimes an important detail for me.
Perfect! Thank you!
Do the Monday and Wednesday evening CardioKick and TurboKick classes fill up quickly? I want to get my daughter into some activity so if we need to show up early we will. Also the beginner cycleburn on Tuesday evening?
The cardio Kickbox and the Turob kickbox classes have quite a few people in them but are not maxed out. As for the Cycleburn spinnning class, there are only 15 bikes, so it is always wise to show up early to those classes. These are all really good classes that will burn a ton of calories, have fun with them.
Does this still hold true a year after the last post? I will be coming from work and meeting my childcare provider so I won’t have a chance to come early. I would love to run in, change, and get going without the worry of not finding a place in class.
Fortunately and unfortunately those classes are filling up this time of the year. Jan.-Mar. class numbers are usually at there highest. We are handing out numbers an hour before class and will take up to 30 people. Thank you for the inquiry.
I would like to get into the Yoga class. Does it fill up?
My daughter and I go on Tuesday to the 6pm class, it is rarely full.
Do you offer any prenatal/maternity classes?
Hello Andrina,
The Apex offers a class called Balancing Motherhood. The next session begins on Tuesday 9/21/10 from 9:00 am -10:30 am reference number 478400-10. The class has not run the last few times because there is a minimum of 4 needed to be enrolled. If the class does not run, give us a call at the Apex Center 303-424-7773 and we will get you in touch with the instructor. She also does privates.
Thanks for the inquiry,
Russell Van Marter
Apex Fitness and Wellness Manager
Russell,
I see this post is from 2010 but I was also looking on your website for a maternity yoga class. I’m only looking into it for the next couple of months since my due date is in May. Are one of the current classes ok to attend during pregnancy?
Nicole
Is there a minimum age requirement to any of these classes? My 10 year old (very active) would love to do some of these classes with me (not active :( lol) (zumba!, etc)
Ages 16+ (ages 13-15 may attend with a parent present in the class)
If i come for a mat pilates or yoga class do i need to bring anything with me?
Some people bring their own mats, but there are mats in the fitness room that you can use.
Just yourself and a positive attitude!!!!
Is there ever a possibility for Sunday classes?
Is there any plan to possibly add a family yoga class? A friend of mine who belongs to Mountainside Fitness says they have a wonderful yoga class she and her 6 year old daughter attend, and it is great for bonding time as well as helping her daughter learn to calm herself. This would be a fantastic addition!
Hello Karena,
We do not have an plans in the immediate future to add a family yoga class. You are the first to inquire about a family yoga program. Currently we offer a Kids Yoga ages 3-8 from 9:30-10:15am and a Tween Yoga ages 9-12 from 10-10:45am program on Saturday mornings. Feel free to stop by and check it out if you would like, it is held in the Summit Room. We will keep our ears open in regards to see if there is enough interest in running this type of class. Thank you for your comment.
I’d love to see baby/child and parent classes at the Apex center!
I think a fitness class (especially Yoga) that I could do with my children (ages 3 and 5) would be great! I have been looking for something like that in the Arvada area! I would love to be able to get my workout in with them alongside with me.
We have a Kids Yoga (ages 3-8) on Saturdays from 9-9:45am. But nothing that combines both parents and kids. The yoga is modified for children and most parents are not interested in doing that type of yoga. I’ll ask the teacher if there would be enough interest to start a class.
Thanks for the suggestion,
Russ
Being in the senior age group I would like to know if any basic yoga is offered at the APEX Center – not the Community Center on Wadsworth Blvd. I live right behind APEX Center and find this location would be easier for me to attend than to drive 10 miles to Senior Sneakers classes. Thanks
Jane, I think the best fit would be to check out the Beginners Yoga in the RANDALL ROOM, SilverSneakers(R) YogaStretch, and Yoga in the RANDALL ROOM. Check the schedule above for days and times and call 303-463-4241 for the most currect schedule.
Where are the pilates classes listed? Under what catagory?
Jann, Pilates is not included in the drop-in fitness classes included with your daily admission. You must register for pilates classes in advance.
You can register for pilates classes online (https://www.apexprd.org/scripts/webtrac.wsc/WBsearch.html?xxmod=AR&xxkeyword=pilates+reformer)
For more info or to register contact Terrell at terrellg@apexprd.org, 303-467-7001.
Hello Jan,
To be more specific Pilates Reformer (a class that uses large pilates machines)is an additional cost, although if you do the classes, it is a little more economical than doing private classes. If you decide to take a pilates class, you will need to do one private class to get to know the equipment. Now if you were interested in doing Mat pilates on the group x schedule, those classes are free with your membership or daily admission. Mat Pilates is more of a body weight based pilates with a few props. Hope that helps. If you have more questions, Terrell is the best person to talk with. Her e-mail is terrellg@apexprd.org
I am 26 years old, but pretty out of shape. Would I fit in with the silver sneakers classes, or do only seniors go to those?
Hello Valerie,
You are more than welcome to attend the SilverSneakers class. It is a great place to start getting in shape. The only thing we ask at the Apex Center, is that if the class is full, that you offer your spot to one of the SilverSneakers. Thanks for asking, other people have probably had the same question. Hope to see you soon.
Thanks,
Russ
Monday 6:30pm will be ZUMBA!!!
I was wondering if the Zumba class is okay for beginners?? I’m pretty out of shape but wanting to start, and what is the best thing to wear for the class?
Hi Meg!
Have u made it to a Zumba class yet? If not I would live to have you. Please say hi so I can meet you. Monday and Friday at 6:30.
Hello Meg,
Zumba is great for beginners. It is a low impact exercise that does not involve any weights, just your body. Thursdays and Fridays is more slower in pace than Tuesdays. Hope that helps.
Russ
I am about 40lbs over weight. i would like to start a workout program that is good for me as a beginner. any good suggestions?
Hello Danielle,
You did not mention your age or what physical limitations you may have. The best option is to get yourself with a Trainer, they will give you appropriate exercises, amount of weight, et cetera. I would purchase at least five, that way you learn the program; you cannot learn enough in one session. We also have a Registered Dietitian on staff, any trainer will tell you that nutrition is 70% of all weight loss. Other options would be to enroll in a class like fit over 50, women on weights. At the very least take the adult weight room orientation. There are also group exercise classes you can try. Connie’s plan is not bad except that you really only need to do 2 sets for weight loss, 3 sets is more for building muscle. Hope that helps.
Hi Danielle!
I teach Zumba Monday and Friday night at 6:30. It is a great class to start with and it will grow with you. I will always show options for beginners and more advanced options for some others. In my classes its a party not just a work out its …great when you leave sweaty and smiling. That will help with cardio and I highly recommend a trainer for weights, which are a key part in keeping us young. :). See you in class.

Unless you choose to work with a trainer I would start off by walking on the track for 1/2 to 1 hour on the track. If you are already a walker you can do what I did and walk one lap and jog one lap, whatever you are comfortable with then I go down and just start on the weight machines with as much weight as you feel comfortable with and try to do 3 reps of 10 or 15 on each machine. I have learned to go easy on yourself and be forgiving but just go and do it at least 3 times a week. They have stationery bikes as well if walking bothers your knees or hips. Hope that helps. I like the yoga classes too, they are great stretches, I like Charla, just remember to be careful and always stretch to minimize injuries. Good luck.
Are there other Pilates Classes besides Mat Pilates? If so, how much do they cost if I have a membership, when are they and how far in advance do you need to sign up
How crowded is the Tues./Thurs. 5:30am Power Sculpt class?
Hello Linda,
I would say that the class averages around 15 people for the morning 5:30am Power Sculpt class.
I would love to see another yoga for athletes or power yoga class that is available during weekday evening hours. I find the regular yoga to be a bit slow but the other times don’t work in my schedule.
Is there any plan to add or move the Power Sculpt or Power Sculpt + into the weekday evening sessions? Aside from Wednesdays, where cardio kickbox and cardio challenge is offered, Zumba or yoga are really the only options for the 9-5ers.
We will most likely add a power sculpt or some similar format sometime after summer/early fall.
Russ
my daughter and her friend want to attend the yoga classes, but they won’t be 16 until november, do they have to come with a parent?
Hello Connie,
Yes you will have to attend with her until they are both 16 years of age. The rule is 14 years and older may attend with a parent and 16 and older may attend by themselves.
Thank you for asking, hope you all have fun.
Russ
I am REALLY disappointed that Tamara is not going to be teaching on Wednesdays any more and concerned that we will lose her altogether. She is by far the best instructor at APEX, with very well attended classes. You need to do what you can to keep her!
Hello Myla,
Management at the Apex Center would love to keep Tamara on Wednesdays as well, but it was not our choice. We have talked to Tamara and she is definitely keeping her Monday and Saturday class. Tamara has also expressed interest in teaching cycleburn (cycling classes), so look for some classes in the future. Barbara will be taking over Tamara’s Wednesday classes. She has great energy and feel that she will do a great job. Please try her out. Continued success with your workouts.
Apex Management
I want to know why you dont have any step aerobic classes at night for peaople that work
Hello Sheri,
We have not had success running a step class at night.
Do we need to sign up ahead of time to attend any classes? Or can we just pay and walk in?
Hello Kailey,
You do not have to sign up for any of the drop in classes. You must check in at Guest Services upstairs for all Cycle Burn classes as there is only 16 bikes and for any Yoga classes in the Randall Room. For the group exercise classes downstairs in the aerobics room, you may choose to show up early before class because class sizes are limited and we will hand out cards at the Fitness Desk for certain classes that fill up. This is especially true at the first of the year. Hope that helps.
Please Please Please put together a family yoga class where moms and tweens/ teens can do yoga together. I know it would be a huge success! Nobody out there is offering this class yet. C’mon Apex- be the first!!
It would be nice to see a family yoga class offered on the group fitness schedule along with more mind/body classes in general.
Hello Cindy,
Thank you for your comment in regards to offering a family yoga group exercise class. Unfortunately we are limited on space in the Aerobics Room and we would have to cut a regular class that we are currently offering. Family yoga is a hard class to fill on a consistent basis. The Secrest Center is offering a family yoga program. We will look at some options of possibly offering a Family Yoga here at the Apex Center. Please check back with us later in the year.
Be nice to see more things for the 13-15 year old area, that is a gap missing from just about everywhere and everything.
Hello Connie,
For the 13-15 year old kids we offer Youth Weight Room Orientations (a two week class that teaches 12-16 year old kids how to work out), Youth Karate, Tween Yoga and Art, Mountain Goats (Rock wall climbing), Tween Fit Camp, Tween cycling, hockey programs, swimming programs, Drop in Basketball and Volley ball. You can check the activity guide for any of these activities. We also offer numerous opportunities throughout various locations throughout the District. You should have received the brochure/catalog in the mail, if not you can pick one up at any of the Apex PRD facilities.
Are there any plans on adding a Balancing Motherhood class/Prenatal Yoga class?
Hello Ann,
We will have some prenatal classes again in the fall. You should see them listed in the fitness section of the Fall Brochure.
