Getting Started
To help you decide which class is right for you, please answer these questions. Do you:
• know how to use a mouse?
• know how to shut down the computer?
• know all the computer’s main components?
• know how to save a file to a floppy disk or CD?
• know how to open and close a computer program?
If you answered “no” to any of the above questions, we recommend that you begin with “Computer Basics.” If you answered “yes” to ALL of the above questions, we recommend that you take “A—Intro to Windows.”
*Please note that all classes are Office 2010, Windows 7, Windows XP and Office 2003 compatible.
*Classes are usually taught 4 students to every 1 instructor.
One-on-One Computer Training
Resolve specific computer issues with one-on-one training sessions in the Center’s computer lab. Length of session varies depending on your needs. Cost is $35 (non-res. $42) per hour. To schedule your time, call 303-425-9583.

Computer Basics
New to computers? This class is for you. We’ll introduce Microsoft Windows, use of keyboard and mouse. You’ll learn to open and close the computer and its programs, become familiar with computer components, basic terminology, and using help. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at class.

A: Intro to Windows
The next step after learning the basics. Manage files, folders and the Recycle Bin. Use pull down menus, tool bar buttons, and shortcut keys to move text and print. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the first class. Prerequisite: Computer Basics.

B: Intro to Word Processing
Learn all about word processing using MS Word: text entry and editing, cut, copy and paste, formatting text and paragraphs, adding pictures, clip art, page set up and printing options. A $5 lab fee is payable to instructor at first class. Knowledge of Computer Basics and Intro to Windows required.

C: More Word
Take your word processing skills to the next level. Learn about tables, columns, bullets/numbering, Word Art, templates, style sheets, headers/footers, and Autocorrect/Autotext. A $5 lab fee is payable to instructor at the first class. Knowledge of Windows and word processing required.

Clean Up Your Computer
Learn about Windows’ features for keeping your PC efficient. Look at other products for removing viruses, adware, spyware, and other items that affect your computer’s performance. $5 lab fee payable to instructor.

You’ve Got Mail
All about e-mail! Learn how to send, receive and format messages; attach text or graphics; work with attachments; set preferences; manage your list of messages and more. $5 lab fee payable to instructor.

Internet
Learn Internet basics and how to find interesting and informative websites. Topics: terminology, search engines, email and attachments, security concerns and more. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the first class. Prerequisite: Computer Basics.

Outlook
Learn the major features of this communications and information management program. Use Outlook Today to quickly view a summary of tasks, appointments, and current email status. Explore all email features, tracking contacts, scheduling meetings, managing tasks, using notes, creating folders, merging with Word to print labels, and more. $5 lab fee payable to instructor.

Intro to Digital Photo Editing
Take your digital photos from OK to great! Edit like a pro: learn to remove red eye, touch up flaws, correct the lighting and contrast, crop and resize pictures. We’ll also cover photo-sharing options: printing them yourself, having them developed and attaching them to emails. Bring your camera and memory card to class. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the class.

Using Scanners
Learn about different types of scanners and methods for scanning in documents, pictures and transparencies. Scan text into an editable document (OCR). Use the scanner and printer as a copier and/or fax system for sending and receiving faxes. $5 lab fee payable to instructor.

Graphics Workshop
Learn how to insert graphics, change size, color, use tools to modify clip art, Word Art, and basic shapes. Learn how to wrap text and make a watermark. Learn about animated art and how to download pictures from the Internet. $5 lab fee payable to instructor.

Tips and Tricks for Windows 7
Learn how to make your Windows system more efficient by adding features and changing appearances. Learn about customizing menus, modifying toolbars, creating shortcuts, and other things you can do to make your Windows experience more productive. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the first class. Prerequisite: A: Intro to Windows

Intro to Excel
Learn spreadsheet basics, plus tips and techniques including data entry, formulas, copy and paste, formatting and printing. We’ll also cover managing and presentation features and learn how to use Excel information in other programs such as Word and PowerPoint. Single session class includes 1-hour lunch. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at class. Knowledge of Computer Basics and Windows required.

Intermediate Excel
Continue to explore the wide range of formulas and methods available in Excel. Learn to create, edit and format spreadsheets to perform calculations and convert data into charts and graphs. PowerPoint
Learn PowerPoint screen elements and design terms, use outlines to organize the text of the presentation, use design templates and formatting tools, add objects and pictures to slides, use color schemes and slide masters, and produce an on-screen slide show. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the class. More PowerPoint
Take PowerPoint to the next level. Explore animation, transitions, presentation techniques, using charts, tables, sharing and creating slides from outline, and more. Single session class includes 1-hour lunch. $5 lab fee payable to instructor. Prerequisite: PowerPoint.

Intro to Access
Learn how the parts of a database work together. See how to create database structure and display data the simple way, including sorting, filtering and finding information. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at the class. Knowledge of Computer Basics and Windows required.

Learn how to create brochures, business cards, and more. Create a basic publication and learn how to use the wizard.
