Cammi Granato, US Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, will visit the Apex Center Oct. 11, and girls age 19 and under are invited to skate with her at the Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, from 1:15 to 2:15 pm on October 11.
All skaters must have previous ice skating experience and must bring their own skates. Girls who wish to participate in the skate need to register online at www.arvadahockey.com.
In May 2008 Cammi was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Hall of fame with three other women’s hockey players—the first women to be given such an honor. On August 12, 2008, it was announced that Cammi would be inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of fame, the first woman to be in the Hall. The induction ceremony will take place on October 10, 2008 at the University of Denver.
Cammi was also the captain of the U.S. women’s hockey team that won a gold medal in the 1998 Winter Olympics, and she is the younger sister of former NHL player and current Colorado Avalanche Head Coach Tony Granato.
Before she visits the Apex Center at 1:15, Cammi will appear at an autograph signing session and launching of BelaHockey, her girls’ line of hockey gear and apparel, from 10 am to noon at Players Bench, 9975 Wadsworth Parkway. This event and the skating session at the Apex Center are both free. For more information, visit www.arvadahockey.com or call the Apex Center Ice Arena, 303-403-2598.
