Three more Ralston House Child Abuse Prevention seminars have been scheduled at two different Apex Park and Recreation District facilities: Saturday, October 27, 10 am to noon at the Apex Field House, 5724 Oak Street; Tuesday, October 30, 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Apex Field House; and Wednesday, November 7, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue. There is also still room in the previously scheduled Wednesday, October 24 seminar at the Apex Center from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
A $10 donation is accepted at the door, with all proceeds benefitting the Ralston House. Apex Child Care is also available for $4 during the two events at the Apex Center.
Recent tragic events in the area have led to increased community concern for the safety of our children. As a result, large numbers of people attended the first event on October 24 and the three new dates were added.
Child sex abuse scandals underscore the need for parents to be informed. In fact, one in every five girls and one in every ten boys will be sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday.
Help protect your child and learn to identify predator behavior by attending one of these child abuse prevention seminars, presented by Rhea Staniszewski, MSW, LCSW, Forensic Interviewer/Therapist at Ralston House Child Advocacy Center. Ms. Staniszewski will present on the dynamics of sexual abuse, common behaviors of perpetrators, and how parents can set up safeguards to help keep children safe.
Arvada’s Ralston House is a child-friendly environment where investigative professionals talk with children and their families. In 2011, Ralston House served more than 850 children with forensic interviews, medical examinations, and victim advocacy.
