Once again Chuck Bird, Arvada resident and SilverSneakers participant at the Apex Center, put together a huge crop of Easter baskets for children in need whose families are clients of the Arvada Community Food Bank. Chuck collects Easter supplies all year to create baskets, which he then donates to needy children at Easter. This year volunteers and Apex Center staff set up a giant assembly line on the morning of March 24. The group assembled 486 Easter baskets, complete with small toys and candy, and delivered 6 truckloads of them to the Food Bank.

The basket donation project started several years ago with a couple of dozen baskets. Each year the numbers have grown, and this year, he’s donating a total of about 700 baskets – 486 to the Arvada Community Food Bank and the rest to another community food bank in the northwest metro area. Thanks, Chuck, for making Easter happier for kids in need!
