Even though we endured record-breaking heat this summer, at least it’s great for swimming! That fact was borne out over the past two weekends, when the Apex PRD Annual Dog Swim brought in big crowds of water-loving dogs and their owners. Everyone looks forward to this popular event as a way to bid a fond farewell to summer.

This year, 270 dogs swam at Lake Arbor Pool, 7451 W. 83rd Way., on August 19, while 290 dogs enjoyed fun in the sun at Secrest Pool, 6820 W. 66th Ave., on the 26th. The event was made possible by these sponsors: 3 Happy Dogs, Care Animal Hospital, Arvada Flats Vet Hospital, Animal Urgent Care, Paws-Claws and More and Pet Empawrium. Thanks to them, the dogs and their companions enjoyed refreshments, information booths and activities – and a cool, wet and refreshing goodbye to outdoor pool season.
