It will be a happy Easter season at the Arvada Community Food Bank, thanks to the efforts of Arvada resident Chuck Bird and an energetic team of volunteers.

Each year, Chuck gathers candy, toys and baskets to put together Easter baskets for children of Food Bank clients. On a recent Wednesday morning, the group made short work of the basket-assembling process, gathering all the ingredients and filling a big room at the Food Bank with brightly colored and wrapped baskets.

For several weeks before the holiday, the baskets are put out on the shelves with the other Food Bank items. They usually go through about 50 baskets a day, according to the facility’s staff.

Many thanks to Chuck, the volunteer team and Apex Park and Recreation District for helping with the collection and assembly process. It’s a heartwarming effort to bring smiles to 540 young faces!
