Candidates announced for May 3 Apex PRD board election

Eligible voters living in Apex Park and Recreation District will have the opportunity to elect two members to the district’s Board of Directors on Tuesday, May 3. The two current board members whose seats are up for election in May are Jeff Glenn and Lee Humrich.

The candidates for the two four-year board positions are Jeff Glenn and Vicki Pyne. Since they were the only two candidates to turn in the self-nomination forms by the deadline, this is an uncontested race.

The Apex PRD Board has a total of five members, all of which serve four-year terms. The remaining three board members’ seats will be up for election in May 2018.

The May 3 election will be conducted by mail-in ballot. These will be sent during the first part of April to active registered voters in the district. Appearing on the same ballot is Ballot Issue A, which proposes the renovation/expansion/construction of six facilities in various locations around the district.

All active registered voters in Apex PRD should receive their ballot in the mail around mid-April. Attended the University of Colorado Boulder

Occupation: Self employed contract sales consultant to the home furnishings industry

Married to wife Lisa Glenn

Have served 8 years on the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, the last 4 as president.

Other interests: Volunteering in the community, advisor to the NFL on youth football, pickleball, golf, fishing

Vicki Pyne

3cb16dbaf1afd8c6552af76c_560x392Vicki and her husband, Tom, have lived in Arvada for the last 21 years. They have five children who are all graduates from Ralston Valley High School. Tom is a dentist and Vicki has managed the dental practice, which is a sole proprietorship for 28 years. In addition to small business ownership experience, Vicki has been engaged in the community in a variety of roles. She currently serves on the State Board of Pharmacy, the Jefferson County Community Services Advisory Board, and the City of Arvada Human Services Board. She has served in the schools in a variety of roles from Athletics Booster Club President, After Prom Subcommittee Chairs, and PTSA Vice President to member of the Jefferson County School District Text Book Committee. Additionally, she is a volunteer child advocate for CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. Vicki holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
