Community celebrates Apex Tennis Center opening
On February 17, the newly renovated Apex Tennis Center, 6430 Miller Street, Arvada, CO, hosted a grand opening celebration from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. This long-awaited major upgrade to an award-winning facility was approved by voters in a 2016 bond election, and it’s the first of six bond projects to be completed in 2018.
“We’re here today to celebrate the result of years of collaboration, planning, perseverance, shared resources and energy,” said Apex PRD Board President Jim Whitfield. “The tennis community, the neighborhood, the district and the City can all be proud of this facility and the part they each played to bring it to completion.”
On grand opening day, the new indoor facility made its debut with four new indoor courts and controlled access to all areas of the tennis complex. During the grand opening, dignitaries and citizens alike got a glimpse of tennis action as players took to the courts to try them out.
The Apex Tennis Center project also included renovating eight outdoor courts with post tension surfaces, new lights and fencing which will be open this summer.
“We are thrilled to see this long-cherished vision become a reality,” said Apex PRD Executive Director Lauri Dannemiller. “It’s a significant community asset, and the direct outcome of our citizens and communities working together.”
The Apex Tennis Center, operating in Apex Park and Recreation District for more than 40 years, offers one of the most comprehensive tennis programs in the Denver metro area.
The center offers many opportunities to learn and play the lifetime sport of tennis. The new facility, combined with expanded programming and staff, will attract players of all ages and abilities from across the region. Tennis players, Apex PRD staff and the community are all looking forward to an exciting 2018! For more information, call 303.420.1210.
