Apex expands youth fitness offering

Whether your kids love many sports, one sport or no sports, a solid fitness program sets the stage for overall health and wellbeing. This summer, Apex offers a range of activities to bring fun and fitness to all ages and interests. Here’s a summary:

Ready, Set, RUN!

This character-building running program trains kids ages 8-13 to participate in a 5K run. Along with the physical training and goal-setting mentality needed to accomplish their running goals, they’ll build confidence, self-esteem and respect for authority; discover tools to cope with peer pressure; and learn to fuel their bodies through proper nutrition. Above all, they’ll have a blast seeing what they can achieve! Participants receive a t-shirt and the opportunity to complete a 5K at the end of the program. Ages 8-13, June 5-August 17 at the Apex Center. Register online at ApexPRD.org.

Strong Girls

The name says it all! During each class, girls learn and execute a new lift in the weight room. Throughout the session, they’ll learn solid techniques and also discover how strength training helps manage stress and supports all sorts of other activities. Ages 12-16, July 11-August 15 at Fitzmorris Recreation Center. Register online at ApexPRD.org.

Strength and Conditioning for Youth

Kids all along the interest and activity spectrum can benefit from age-appropriate weightlifting for optimal fitness and performance. A Personal Trainer teaches proper weightlifting techniques to enhance strength, mobility and flexibility. A great way to build good habits of training and maintaining overall fitness and wellness. Ages 7-12, July 10-August 16 at Fitzmorris Recreation Center. Register online at ApexPRD.org.

Strength and Conditioning for Teens

A more advanced class for ages 13-16 to learn proper weightlifting techniques to enhance strength, mobility and flexibility.
