1. Fitzmorris Participation Update – Hillary Roemersberger
Ms. Roemersberger provided the board with an update on the past month since the Fitzmorris Recreation Center facility reopened. She noted that attendance has been slow but is growing, and more programs are being scheduled in the facility. Hours will be expanded as demand requires.
2. Summer Pools Planning – Justin Maillet
Ms. Dannemiller shared that the reasoning for a slightly modified outdoor pool schedule than what we provided pre-COVID is due to staffing issues along with our budgeting projections for the year with a very keen eye on cost recovery and plans to expand if demand warrants. Mr. Maillet provided the board with a summary of the proposals for the outdoor pools for the summer, one that will operate if there are no capacity restrictions in place, and one if the Statewide Dial requires capacity restrictions. Modification of available hours is being heavily impacted by the extreme lack of staffing available. The district has been running monthly lifeguard training classes, but the shortage of lifeguards is an industry-wide issue. All pools will open Memorial Day weekend and closure dates will vary. The district will be offering extended evening hours a few days a week as well to accommodate working families and optimize the longer days. Swim lessons will resume in outdoor pools with a modified, condensed format. Special events are also being planned for each of the pools.
3. 100% Capacity Planning and Implementation – Lauri Dannemiller
Ms. Dannemiller and Ms. Groke reported that due to the Statewide Dial being moved to Level Blue, we are now able to use spaces at 100% capacity with 6-foot social distancing and masks still required. The district will discontinue requiring reservations for drop-in activities such as fitness, gyms, etc.; will be expanding hours at the Apex Center; and will resume pre-COVID pricing structures. Staff restrictions make expanding hours at the Apex Center along with the administrative work to get guests current with their admission fobs and photos very complicated to accomplish on short notice. These changes will go into effect on April 12, 2021.
