BOARD OF DIRECTORS

September 16, 2021

CALL TO ORDER

President Pyne called to order the September 16, 2021, meeting of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District, held at 6:30 p.m. in the Apex Center Randall Room, 13150 W. 72nd Ave., Arvada, CO. Board members in attendance in person were Vicki Pyne, Liz Tomsula, Rich Garrimone, and Stephanie Allen. Director Ken Harrell was absent; his absence was excused. District staff members present were Katie Groke – Director of Marketing and Communications, Rheana Rogers – Executive Administrator and Recording Secretary, Mark Baird – Director of District Services, Hillary Roemersberger – Director of Recreation Services, Jesse Badder – Director of Recreation Services, Julie Hines – Recreation Manager, Dana Bammerlin – Assistant Recreation Manager, Maggie Sherrill – Head Lifeguard, and Lifeguards Lauren Lam, Jessica Sisneros, and Alexander Cardenas. Also in attendance were representatives from Arvada Fire Protection District and various community members and Abby McNeal – APAC.

MOTION: Director Tomsula moved to excuse Director Harrell from the meeting. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

MOTION: Director Tomsula moved for approval of the agenda. Director Allen seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 2, 2021, BOARD MEETING

MOTION: Director Allen moved for approval of the Minutes. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

There was none.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Secrest Lifeguards Recognition – Hillary Roemersberger

Ms. Roemersberger presented to the board to celebrate the heroic efforts of a team of lifeguards who saved the life of a young girl at the Secrest Outdoor Pool on July 20. Lifeguards Alexander Cardenas, Maggie Sherrill, Brenna Sisneros, and Lauren Lam were thanked and recognized. Board members also addressed the honorees expressing their gratitude and pride. They were presented with certificates of recognition. Representatives from Arvada Fire Protection District were present and also recognized the honorees and presented them with awards.

2. ACTIVENet Registration Software Conversion Update – Katie Groke, Julie Hines

Ms. Groke and Ms. Hines provided with the board a brief update on the status of the district’s migration from MaxGalaxy to ACTIVENet programming and registration software. Staff has been working to prepare for this transition for the past 6-7 months. The system is expected to go live for customers on September 23.

3. Meyers Pool IGA Update – Katie Groke

Ms. Groke reported that she and Ms. Roemersberger met with the City and the school district and legal representatives last week. They presented to the school board and received their support to go forward with finalizing the IGA in the coming weeks. Attorneys are working with staff on negotiations at this time. A first draft of the IGA is expected next week.

There was none.


BOARD MEMBER REPORTS/INPUT

President Pyne reported she met with Dot Miller for an update regarding the IGA negotiations with the City of Arvada around the maintenance and programming of athletic fields.

Director Allen had nothing to report.

Director Tomsula had nothing to report.

Director Garrimone reported the Foundation golf tournament was last week and it was very successful. Final proceeds are still being determined. He and the work team met with designers on Indian Tree clubhouse redesign last week and work is proceeding.


ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Director Allen moved that the meeting be adjourned. Director Tomsula seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

President Pyne adjourned the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
