Call to Order

President Pyne called to order November 2, 2023, meeting of the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, held at 6:30 pm at the Apex Center. Board members in attendance in person were Vicki Pyne, Jo Burns, Rich Garramone, and Abby McNeal. District employees in attendance were Jeff Glenn-Executive Director, Jesse Badder – Recreation Services Director, Monica Bowser – Marketing Administrator and Recording Secretary, Riki Rarick-Safety Manager, Jeff Leniger-Director of Finance, Elias Martinez-Recreation Generalist

Approval of Absence of Liz Tomsula

Motion: Director Rich Garramone moved for approval of the absence of Director Liz Tomsula. Director Abby McNeal seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Agenda

Motion: Director Jo Burns moved for approval of the agenda. Director Rich Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of the October 19, 2023, Board Meeting

Motion: Director Abby McNeal moved for approval of the minutes. Director Jo Burns seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Minutes amended to say #2 under new business for CPRA overview should say Liz Scott and not Liz Tomsula.

New Business

1. Officer Curtice Recognition-Riki Rarick

Thank you to Officer Curtice for all he has done to help us become active shooters ready. Officer Curtice is very grateful to our staff for taking the time to be prepared and safe.

1. 2024 Budget Study-Jeff Leniger

Director Jeff Leniger presented the budget overview and began the study session.

November 16 is public input of budget. December 7 meeting will be approval of budget.

Director Burns asked for clarification on several budget items. Director Leniger was able to answer her questions thoroughly.

No old or other business.

Executive Director Report

Trick or Trot was very successful. Staff have turned in presentations for the Foundation proposals. Finalizations will be made tomorrow. Staff will present next week to the foundation for the proposals.

December 7 will be The Foundation breakfast and Board of Directors meeting and dinner; all at Indian Tree.

CEBT presented to staff yesterday for health benefits. Open Enrollment begins Monday. Great job to HR for putting the change together.

Board Member Reports/Input

Director Jo Burns: Director Jo Burns went to Trick or Trot. It was great. Very chilly. Kudos to the staff who was supporting everyone and Michelle as the Apex T-Rex. Kiwanis 60th anniversary and they have big dinner December 5.

Director Abby McNeal: Director Abby McNeal has nothing to report.

Director Rich Garrimone: Director Rich Garrimone Trick or Trot considering the weather. Maybe looking at about $45,000.00 from the foundation for staff proposals. The golf restroom will be delivered November 15. Cart barn, contractors have submitted a second approval to City of Arvada. They are looking at it this week and will get back to us.

Director Vicki Pyne: Director Vicki Pyne has nothing to report.

Motion: Director Jo Burns moved that the meeting be adjourned. Director Rich Garramone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Director Vicki Pyne adjourned the meeting at 7:10 pm.
