Art for the Young at Heart opens to capacity crowd

Creativity is timeless! That idea was on display February 8 at the opening reception and awards ceremony for the annual Art for the Young at Heart intergenerational art show. About 400 people came to the event, held at the Apex Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada.

Art for the Young at Heart is a beloved event that began several decades ago. Students from selected north Jefferson County elementary schools, and community artists age 50 and up, collaborate to produce this unique and colorful show. As inspiring as the artwork were the many proud artists attending the opening, along with family, friends and teachers.

The show is on display through March 15. Stop by to see these beautiful creations during regular operating hours at the Community Recreation Center. Thanks to these sponsors: North Jefferson County Elementary schools, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Crafty Seniors and the Jane Hannah Estate.
