Apex Adult Hockey League

Competitive, non-check, coed Apex Adult Hockey League (AAHL) in-house at the Apex Center Ice Arena, 13150 W. 72nd Ave. Coed adult divisions for ages 18+ with 3 seasons annually: fall (September), winter (January), spring/summer (May). Both evening and lunch divisions play 10 regular season games concluding with single elimination playoffs, a team trophy retained by the AAHL and individual awards or t-shirts. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TOWARD RINGERS, NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR, ABUSE OF OFFICIALS OR LEAGUE STAFF. USA Hockey Registration is required. Certified USA Hockey referees will be used.

AAHL Rules and Policies

Adult Hockey Divisions:

  • C – Designed for the intermediate player. Tuesday nights.
  • D – Designed for the intermediate/recreational player. Monday nights.
  • Over 40 Rec – Designed for the intermediate/recreational player. Sunday nights.

Lunch Divisions:

  • Lunch League – Designed for the intermediate/recreational player. Thursdays.

Learn-to-Play Hockey Program – Youth and Adult

  • The hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey in hockey skates. Skaters learn to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice, plus the necessary skating, puck and stick handling, passing and shooting fundamentals to be successful in practice and game situations within a local youth association or adult league..
  • New participants to the program will receive a Youth or Adult Hockey jersey.
  • Jerseys are ordered for new program participants after the second week of class in case of late registrations. They usually arrive by the fourth week of class.
  • All participants must have required equipment as specified in activity description.
  • All new participants must report to the Apex Center Ice Arena lobby 30 minutes prior to the starting time on the first day of class.
  • Participants may be moved to different levels within the program for optimal learning.

Adult Drop-In Hockey

Times subject to change due to special events. Please call 303-403-2598 for information on additions or deletions. Full hockey equipment is required. Full face masks are strongly recommended.

Regular Scheduled Sessions (Times are subject to change without notice. Please call 303-403-2598 to confirm times):

  • Monday: noon-1:30 pm
  • Friday: 6-7:30 am
  • Friday: noon-1:30 pm

Fees:

  • Resident: $8
  • Non-resident: $11

Stick and Puck/Developmental Hockey

Work on skating, puck and stick handling and shooting. This is not a drop-in hockey game! Hours may be adjusted due to special events and holidays. Portions of the ice may be used periodically for lessons or special events. Times are subject to change without notice. Always call the Apex Center Ice Arena at 303-403-2598 to confirm times.

Guidelines:

  • Full equipment required for ages 18 and under.
  • Helmets mandatory for 19 and over. Full equipment recommended, skin must be covered.
  • Coaching area is south of the southernmost blue line or may be determined by Apex Center staff. Coaches are required to wear helmets. Coaches need prior approval from the Ice Arena Manager to coach on Stick and Puck sessions.
  • Goalies pay the same fee as everyone else.
  • Control your shots; you’re responsible for pucks you shoot.
  • Pucks are not supplied; bring your own.
  • Respect and get along with other skaters and coaches.
  • No goal tending unless you are wearing goal tending equipment.
  • Partial ice scrimmages may be allowed at staff discretion based on ice usage.
  • No slap/snap shots towards side glass.

Private Lessons and Clinics

Private lessons are held daily during Stick and Puck sessions through private instructors. Seasonal adult clinics are be offered between seasons.
