Apex Adult Hockey League

Competitive, non-check, coed Apex Adult Hockey League (AAHL) in-house at the Apex Center Ice Arena, 13150 W. 72nd Ave. Coed adult divisions for ages 18+ with 3 seasons annually: Fall (September), Winter (January), Spring/Summer (May). Both evening and lunch divisions play 10 regular season games concluding with single elimination playoffs, a team trophy retained by the AAHL and individual awards or t-shirts. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TOWARD RINGERS, NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR and BULLIES. USA Hockey Registration is required and certified USA Hockey referees will be used.

Summer 2015 Apex Adult Hockey League registration can be found at Please register for USA Hockey prior to starting the registration process. A USA Hockey number is mandatory for league registration.

Adult Hockey Divisions:

  • C – Designed for the experienced intermediate/advanced player
  • D – Designed for the intermediate player.
  • Over 40 Rec – Designed for the intermediate or recreational player.

Lunch Divisions:

  • Lunch League – Designed for the intermediate player. Equivalent to C and D level.

Learn-to-Play Hockey Program – Youth and Adult

  • The hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey in hockey skates. Skaters learn to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice, plus the necessary skating, stick and puck handling, passing and shooting fundamentals to be successful in practice and game situations within a local youth association or adult league.
  • All new participants to the program must register for the new player evaluation youth or adult activity.
  • All new participants to the program must pay a one time mandatory program fee. This fee covers a Youth or Adult Hockey jersey with name and number on the back.
  • Jerseys are ordered for new program participants after the second week of class in case of late registrations. They usually arrive by the fourth week of class.
  • All participants must have required equipment as specified in activity description.
  • All new participants must report to the Apex Center Ice Arena lobby 30 minutes prior to the starting time on the first day of class.
  • Participants may be moved as needed for optimal learning and teaching.

Middle School Hockey League

Grades 6-8. A competitive, non-check, coed Spring hockey league offered April-May featuring ten games and single elimination playoffs at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Ave. Teams are selected by a draft based on experience and ability. USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. USA Hockey Rules apply. USA Hockey certified referees. Participants may be moved between teams as needed for competitive balance. Adult Drop-In Hockey

Canceled Sessions:  Monday, May 25 12:00-1:30 pm and Friday, May 29 12-1:30 pm

Times subject to change due to special events. Please call 303-403-2598 for information on additions or deletions. Full hockey equipment is required. Full face masks are strongly recommended.

Regular Scheduled Sessions (call 303-403-2598 to confirm times):

  • Monday: noon-1:30 pm
  • Friday: 6-7:30 am
  • Friday: noon-1:30 pm


  • Resident: $8
  • Non-resident: $11

Skate and Shoot/Developmental Hockey

Work on skating, stick and puck handling and shooting. This is not a drop-in hockey game! Hours may be adjusted due to special events and holidays. Portions of the ice may be used periodically for lessons or special events. Please call the Apex Center Ice Arena at 303-403-2598 to confirm.


  • Full equipment required for ages 18 and under.
  • Helmets mandatory for 19 and over. Full equipment recommended, skin must be covered.
  • Coaching area is south of the southernmost blue line or may be determined by Apex staff. Coaches are required to wear helmets.
  • Goalies pay the same fee as everyone else.
  • Control your shots; you’re responsible for pucks you shoot.
  • Pucks are not supplied; bring your own.
  • Respect and get along with other skaters and coaches.
  • No goal tending unless you are wearing goal tending equipment.
  • Partial ice scrimmages may be allowed at staff discretion based on ice usage.
  • No slap/snap shots towards side glass.
