Call to Order

President Pyne called to order April 4, 2024, meeting of the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, held at 6:30 pm at the Apex Center Randall Room. Board members in attendance in person were Vicki Pyne, Rich Garrimone, Liz Tomsula, Jo Burns, and Abby McNeal. District employees in attendance were Jeff Glenn-Executive Director; Katie Groke – Director of Community Services and recording secretary; Riki Rarick – Emergency Services Manager; Mark Baird – Director of District Services; Darren Bjorlin – District Services; Jesse Badder – Director of Recreation Services; Karina Gomez – Administrative Coordinator; Brad Hull – Assistant Manager; and Hillary Roemersberger – Director of Recreation Services.

Approval of Agenda

Motion: Director Tomsula moved for approval of the agenda. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of the March 21, 2023, Board Meeting

Motion: Director Garrimone moved for approval of the minutes. Director Tomsula seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

New Business

• New Employee Introductions-Jeff Glenn
  • Ryan Phelps – Recreation Coordinator, Sports
  • Kaitlin Carbone – Hospitality, Apex Center
  • Jake Rightenburg – Assistant Recreation Manager, Aquatics

Staff introduced new team members and were able to meet the Board and explain their new roles.

Staff Presentation, Summer Pool Schedule – Hillary Roemersberger

Ms. Roemersberger presented summer pool hours and reported that all pools will be open, and we are hired up with lifeguards.

• Cooper Property Update – Jeff Glenn

Mr. Glenn reported that the district is interested in purchasing the property at 13300 W. 72nd Ave, Arvada, CO 80005, and is requesting the Board’s approval for the Board president to sign an agreed-upon purchase contract.

Motion: Director Tomsula moved to approve Resolution APRD2024-05 Resolution of the Board of Directors of Apex Park and Recreation District, approving the purchase of property at 13300 W. 72nd Ave. Arvada, CO 80005. Director McNeal seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

• Dannemiller Park Verizon Easement Update – Mark Baird

Mr. Baird updated the Board and showed images of the easement project.

Motion: Director Tomsula moved to approve permanent easement to Verizon for the DEN Tablerock / MDG#: 5000377229/5000377229 site. Director Garrimone seconded, and it passed unanimously.

• Community Table Sponsorship – Jeff Glenn

Motion: Director McNeal moved to approve sponsorship of the Community Table Golf Tournament. Director Burns seconded, and it passed unanimously.

Old/Other Business

There was none.

Executive Director Report

Mr. Glenn invited the Board to the Arvada Chamber of Commerce Awards luncheon.

Board Member Reports/Input

Director McNeal: Director McNeal complimented the staff on the Special Olympics event at the Ice Arena. She also reported out on a good story about a family coming into town and wanting to visit the Apex Center because they remembered it being so wonderful.

Director Garrimone: Director Garrimone reported on the Foundation meeting and their upcoming events. He also updated the Board on the golf course projects.

Director Tomsula: Nothing to report.

Director Burns: Director Burns reported on attending the Arvada Chamber’s State of Housing event.

Adjournment

Motion: Director Burns moved that the meeting be adjourned. Director McNeal seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Director Tomsula adjourned the meeting at 7:50 pm.
