My family and I are users of district programs and facilities, and I worked for the district as a teenager.

Jeff Glenn, Vice President – elected in May 2010
Family: Wife Amy, daughter Samantha (17) and son Nicholas (14)
Occupation: Independent Furniture Manufacturer Representative
What prompted you to run for the board?
I ran in 2008 to further the great work the past board had accomplished. I also saw the position as an opportunity to give back to the district I have been using since 1969.
What skills and experience do you bring to the board?
My two years of experience on the board has been a wonderful learning experience for me. I continue to learn and gain valuable on the job experience every day being a part of this organization. My ability to work and interact with a wide range of people from very different perspectives has proved to be quite valuable to me on this board.
What are your goals for your current board term?
We have some pretty important issues to decide in the very near future. The changes at our Garrison Street facility and finding new homes for those programs is key to our future success both financially as well as in terms of providing for the growing needs of the district. My main goal for my remaining term is to see this project get completed. All the while taking the other challenges that are on the horizon.
What makes Apex PRD stand out from other recreation agencies?
Without question the wonderful staff we have. From the top on down this is a dedicated top notch group of people who care about our district. The other part of that is our great facilities. The Apex Center is a world class facility.
Ken Harrell, Treasurer/Secretary – elected in May 2010

Arvada, CO 80007

Family: wife Rosemary Harrell and daughter Christine, 23.
Occupation: business owner.
What prompted you to run for the board?
We recently lost about 50-plus years of experience on the board, so I felt that from an experience standpoint we needed to fill some of those vacancies with someone who has been in the district and worked with the board members who are staying, in order to keep some continuity.
What skills and experience do you bring to the board?
Membership on the Apex Foundation board of directors, chair of bond issue groups in 1998 and 2003. Being as involved as I have been over the last eight-plus years, I know the issues that the board has had to work with from a financial and management standpoint.
What are your goals for your current board term?
To move forward with the renovation and repair of Apex facilities, making them more inviting places with increased numbers of patrons; and to work toward more effective and productive relationships with other area government entities.
What makes Apex PRD stand out from other recreation agencies?
The district’s unique combination of programs and activities, presented by an enthusiastic and skilled staff.

I will work to build consensus with fellow board members and staff, to communicate with and develop a good working relationship with City of Arvada.
