Call To Order

President Pyne called to order the April 17, 2025, meeting of the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, held at 6:30 pm at the Apex Center. The board members in attendance in person were Vicki Pyne, Rich Garrimone, Liz Tomsula, and Abby McNeal. District employees in attendance were Riki Rarick, Safety and Emergency Manager; Katie Groke, Community Services Director and Recording Secretary; Darren Bjorn, Manager of District Services; Michelle Stout, Recreation Manager; and Mark Baird, Director of District Services.

Approval of Absence of Director Jo Burns

Motion: Director Tomsula moved to approve the agenda. Director McNeal seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Agenda

Motion: Director McNeal moved to approve the agenda. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of the April 3, 2025 Board Meeting

Motion: Director Garrimone moved to approve the minutes. Director McNeal seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

New Business

Rec Camp Presentation – Riki Rarick

Mr. Rarick presented his experience at Rec Camp in Dallas, Texas.

Sponsorship Update – Michelle Stout

Ms. Stout presented an update on our sponsorship program.

Old/Other Business

Jeff Glenn reported that he is having conversations with the city of Arvada about the permitting process.

Executive Director Report

Mr. Glenn reported that there has been an increase in CORA requests submitted to the district.

Mr. Glenn announced that we have signed a contract with Rec Technologies as the new registration software for the district in 2026.

Mr. Glenn let the BOD know that the east ice rink is getting repainted.

Mr. Glenn reported that StarGuard made their surprise visit this week, and we received a 4-star report. Huge shoutout to aquatics for being so prepared.

Mr. Glenn let the BOD know about the successful events last weekend around the district and told them about a brand-new event tomorrow night, Earth Beyond the Stars.

Board Member Reports

Director McNeal:

Director McNeal attended the Kite Festival. Someone stopped her to compliment CRC on their excellent customer service and how they know everyone who walks in. Director McNeal also shouted out the Youth Advisory Board and how well their events are coming along.

Director Garrimone:

Director Garrimone reported to the BOD on the construction of the cart barn and the restaurant.

Director Tomsula:

No updates.

President Pyne:

President Pyne reported she is attending the State of the City tomorrow at the Chamber.

President Pyne adjourned the meeting at 7:27 pm.
