May 7, 2026, Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Call To Order

President Pyne called to order the May 7, 2026, meeting of the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, held at 6:30 pm at the Apex Center. Board members in attendance in person were Vicki Pyne, Rich Garrimone, Jo Burns, Liz Tomsula and Lynn Emrick. District employees in attendance were Jeff Glenn, Executive Director; Katie Groke, Director of Community Services and Recording Secretary; Laura Schwenker, Recreation Coordinator; Riki Rarick, Safety and Emergency Manager; Monica Bowser, Community Services Manager; Drenea Starbuck, Recreation Coordinator; Laina Doyle, Recreation Manager; Doug Davey, Recreation Coordinator; Michelle Stout, Recreation Manager; Jesse Badder, Director of Golf and Operations; Darren Bjorlin, Capital Project Manager and Building Access Control Specialist and Hillary Roemersberger, Director of Recreation Services.

Approval of Agenda

MOTION: Director Burns moved to approve the agenda. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of the April 9, 2026 Board Meeting

MOTION: Director Tomusla moved to approve the minutes. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

New Business

  1. Volunteer Victors: Michelle Stout
    CRC Staff introduced their volunteer victors and celebrated their many accomplishments.
  1. Camp Presentation: Hillary Roemersberger
    Ms. Roemersberger presented an update on licensed camps for this summer.

Old/Other Business

Executive Director Report

Mr. Glenn reported that Pitch, Play and Stay is now at Secrest Park. The second-quarter all-staff meeting was today, and there was a fun video update. Mr. Glenn let the BOD know that we did get an extension on our lease at the Fitzmorris site. He also let them know we are expanding after-school care to more schools. We will now be serving seven schools.

Director Burns

Director Burns reported that Second Saturdays in Olde Town Arvada start this weekend, and Kiwanis will be there. Taste of Arvada is July 9.

Director Emrick

Director Garrimone

Director Garrimone reported that the foundation has 61 teams for the pickleball tournament.

President Pyne

No report.

MOTION: Director Tomsula moved that the meeting be adjourned. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

President Pyne adjourned the meeting at 7:28 pm.
