July 17, 2026, Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Call To Order

President Pyne called to order the July 17, 2026, meeting of the Apex Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, held at 6:31 pm at the Apex Center. Board members in attendance were Vicki Pyne, Rich Garrimone, Jo Burns, Lynn Emrick and Liz Tomsula. District employees in attendance were Executive Director Jeff Glenn; Community Services Manager and Recording Secretary Monica Bowser; Director of Golf and Operations Jesse Badder; Capital Project Manager and Building Access Control Specialist Darren Bjorlin; Director of District Services Mark Baird; Manager of Emergency Services Riki Rarick; Recreation Manager Kim Greason; Recreation Coordinator Selena Ford; Recreation Manager Roxie Augustine; Tennis Professional Jazzy Gillette; Superintendent of Golf Dan Machuga.

Approval of Agenda

MOTION: Director Tomsula moved to approve the agenda. Director Burns seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of The June 18, 2026, Board Meeting

MOTION: Director Burns moved to approve the minutes. Director Garrimone seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

    • Roxie Augustine introduced Selena as the new recreation coordinator at Apex Field House.
  • Tennis Professional Jazzy Gillette
    • Kim Greason introduced Jazzy as the new tennis professional at Apex Tennis Center.

Executive Director Report

Glenn:

• Asked the board to let him know who will play in the Apex Foundation Golf Tournament and the Arvada Chamber Golf Tournament.
• The district gave $500.00 sponsorship for Tossin’ for Tots for Kiwanis and asked who the two players would be to represent the BOD for Apex PRD. Jo Burns will be playing with a partner.
• Upcoming events:
  • Tomorrow is Park and Recreation Professional Day.
    • No water tower lighting.
    • Monica and Vee will hand out goodies to the staff to celebrate them.
  • Department videos are being posted to social media celebrating Park and Recreation Month. Shout out to finance for winning.
  • Sunday, July 19, at Secrest Recreation Center is Kids’ TRY.
  • Budget season is starting.
    • Fees will be approved in one of our August meetings
  • Kami Welch is stepping down at the Arvada Chamber.
  • The City of Arvada is hiring a new deputy director of VCN.

• Shout out to the staff who worked the Taste of Arvada.
• Shout out to the archery employees who helped Jo and made their day fun.

Director Garrimone:

• Foundation meeting this morning
• $6800.00 from the foundation pickleball tourney
• The Foundation golf tournament has 20 teams committed, looking for 10 teams.

Adjournment

MOTION: Director Garrimone moved that the meeting be adjourned. Director Tomsula seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

President Pyne adjourned the meeting at 7:11 pm.
