Cooking with Friends – Lunch

Join us as we prepare, clean up, and enjoy a light meal together for lunch in the Community Recreation Center's fabulous kitchen. On the menu: Cobb Salad made with chicken, bacon, avocado, and eggs, homemade honey mustard dressing, a side of fruit, and a refreshing mocktail.

Adult Trip – Fort Morgan

Crews from the network HGTV spent three months renovating businesses, homes, and public spaces in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Ride along with us as we explore the updated sites and hear from a local expert on the overall town project. Please bring money for lunch ($15+). We will be walking outdoors, so please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. Arrive at the Community Recreation Center, 6842 Wadsworth Blvd, by 8:15 am.

Bunco Bash

Enjoy an afternoon playing this easy, fun game. Light refreshments and prizes are included. Experienced and new Bunco players are welcome. Register by the Monday prior.

Apex Foundation Pickleball Tournament

Come play in the annual Apex Foundation Pickleball Tournament on May 25 and 26. Men's, women's, and mixed doubles of various levels are offered. Men's and women's divisions will play on Saturday. Mixed divisions will play on Sunday. The format is pool play, then single elimination bracket play. Start times will vary, with the earliest being 8:30 am. It's a 6-game guarantee with awards given to the top 3 in each division. The tournament fee is $120 per team. The deadline to register is May 17, 5 pm.

Sensory Friendly Swim Time

The Apex Center pools offer sensory-friendly swim time. This event is an open swim time with a quiet, less-crowded environment. This swim time is set aside for those with autism and neurodivergence and their families. Certified swim instructors will be present to assist with learning and fun. You are encouraged to pre-register for this. Children under two are free.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

National Senior Health and Fitness Day is the nation's largest annual health and wellness event for active adults. Join us at Secrest Recreation Center for a stroll followed by activities, snacks, and giveaways from our Active Adult programming sponsors. We thank our sponsors: Senior Placement of Denver, Optimal Aging, Seniors Helping Seniors, Optum, Arbor View, Kaiser Permanente, Gardens at St. Elizabeth, Kipling Meadows, Brookdale Arvada, and Relay Colorado. Behind the Scenes – Coors Field

Join us as we go behind the scenes at Coors Field, one of the premier ballparks in Major League Baseball. Tours typically last 70-80 minutes and cover a distance of approximately one mile. The price includes transportation, parking, and a tour ticket. Please bring cash for lunch ($15+). Please dress in layers and be prepared to walk at least a mile on the tour. Active Adult Welcome Breakfast

Whether you're new to the district or ready to try some new activities, discover the many diverse opportunities across Apex. Enjoy a light breakfast while you learn about various social activities, education, arts and crafts, fitness, aquatics, trips, hikes, clubs, volunteering, and how to get involved. We will also be discussing the benefits of insurance-based memberships.

Friday Bingo

Free bingo fun on the last Friday of the month. Play a variety of bingo patterns and win fun prizes. Each month is sponsored by one of the Apex Annual Active Adult sponsors. Free, but please register in advance. Limited to 30 people.

Secrest Summer Kickoff

GrEighties – End of Life Finances

Are you great and over eighty? Join Sunshine Home Share Colorado and learn how to prepare for the end of life by learning how to prepare to write your will and ensuring your wishes are fulfilled. Bring your most important questions to talk as a group. A light snack will be served. Please register in advance.

Adult Trip – Molly Brown House Museum

Take a step back in time at the Molly Brown House Museum. On our guided tour, we will walk through the house, including three floors and 16 rooms. We'll experience the Browns' private sitting area and bedrooms and glimpse their servants' living and working quarters. Please bring cash for lunch ($15+). Grief Support Group – Caregiver Burnout

Learn how to address the needs and concerns of being a caregiver, including fatigue and ways to care for yourself. Share the ups and downs of being a caregiver in a safe space. Advanced registration is welcomed but optional.

Strawberry Brunch and Fashion Show

The ever-popular Strawberry Brunch and Fashion Show returns. We serve a wonderful brunch followed by the fashion show brought to us by Cato Fashions. Friends from the Community Recreation Center will model the fashions. The fee includes the brunch and fashion show. Register by June 3.

Pride Night

Pride Night at Secrest is an event exclusively for LGBTQ+ teens and their allies. Participants are encouraged to reach beyond their comfort zone and join their peers in a safe and engaging environment. Teens will have access to the gymnasium, indoor pool, and the Teen Center outside of business hours. $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
